I used to like to clean. I loved an organized house and had a marathon cleaning routine every Friday. Cleaning helped keep my anxiety at bay and was also how I got my frustrations out. The standing joke used to be if you came into my home and it was spotless and there were baked goods, I was in a “mood” (or had been).
Embarrassing fibro fog moments happen to me all the time. Some days I don’t know if I should laugh or cry. Unfortunately, most fibromyalgia fighters have to battle fibro fog to some degree.
What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic, complex illness characterized by widespread musculoskelatal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and other issues. A person with FM suffers from a wide variety of symptoms, which can fluctuate in degree of severity or remain constant. The condition may be mild, moderate or severe. FM can be very debilitating, affecting all aspects of a person’s daily life, often leading to significant disability. (according to mefm.bc.ca)
MAJOR DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, FIBROMYALGIA
These are just a few of the labels the doctors have given me over the years. I am not my "label" I am not my illness. Labels only benefit the doctor's, it gives them a "place to start" in treating me, that label may open doors to resources, the label may offer treatment options, that label was needed when I applied for disability... but it isn't WHO I am!
I am a wife, a step-mom, a daughter, a sister, an aunt. I am kind, trustworthy and honest. I am a woman who has been through a hell of a lot in my life and hopefully have grown and learned to be a better person.
I love my dogs, to bake, country music turned up LOUD, spending time with my niece. I love nature (but not camping). My perfect vacation would be a week in a cottage on the lake, relaxing and spending time with family!
I HAVE a disability, I have fibromyalgia, I have anxiety & depression...it doesn't define me, it doesn't tell you WHO I am, that isn't my authentic self.
When I look in the mirror, I see ME... not my disabilities!
“How bad can fibro fog be?” This is a question I have been asked more times than I can count.
Laundry is a frustrating chore when you have Fibromyalgia, worse when you're having a bad Fibro Fog day. This was me last week...
