About Me
I have chosen to name the blog Days Flutter By to reflect the passing of time. Days are coming and going constantly and everybody is trying to leave a mark, may it be only a footnote in history. Humans tend to forget. This is a fact. We are stubborn. We rarely learn from our mistakes. We rarely learn from our experience.
I am of Polish-American descend. While this fact might seem useless to you, my reader, I felt the need to elaborate on why I felt that this blog needed to exist. My father was Polish and my mother American. During my childhood, we would visit Poland every couple of years to stay for the summer. For us, my sister and me, this was paradise. You could do whatever you want, swim in the numerous lakes, play with the dogs.
For my mother, on the other hand, this was a nightmare. Having grown up in a modern western country, she was used to flawless medical treatment by doctors that have access to cutting edge technology and latest research. Could you imagine her horror of having her children in a country where, due to politics, you needed to schedule a simple check-up 3 weeks in advance? But she loved my grandmother (my father's mother) so much and my father was insisting on going, that she had no choice. So she did the only thing that she could.
What better way to take care of your children than be their doctor when the time of need arises? She set upon a journey to learn all that she could about natural remedies, easily obtainable from Mother Nature itself. As time passed, this turned into a hobby and later into a passion. It did not stop when we were back home either. This passion of hers, in turn, reflected on me, and I became a plant junkie (what my sister likes to call me).
For those of you just waiting to get me wrong, I am not trying to discredit modern science in any way. Everything based on scientific findings I consider ultimately valid. What I am saying though, is that natural remedies have quite a bad reputation. This is the thing that I find unjustified. Why not try a herbal tea instead of gulping down pills for your cold right away? Or have the tea together with your pills, as long as there are no adverse effects. Why not give nature a chance? It's 10 times cheaper and 10 times more available.
Hope I've provoked a thought, enjoy the blog.
